COMMUNITY PROGRAMMES

Oasis Mozambique operates in six provinces of the country: Maputo City, Maputo Province, Sofala, Manica, Tete, and Cabo Delgado. In each location, we work in a contextualized way, closely connected to the communities, focusing on six main areas:

Community Health
We carry out health promotion activities focused on HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, sexual and reproductive health, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). We also provide referral support for cases of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), along with psychosocial care for survivors.

Livelihoods
We strengthen the economic independence of communities through initiatives such as conservation agriculture, support for small businesses, income-generating projects, and inclusive social enterprises that integrate vulnerable groups into the market.

Youth Empowerment
We engage young people as peer facilitators to promote health, support HIV responses, and foster social dialogue. We actively participate in the READY+ movement, which uses football as a tool to promote youth sexual and reproductive health and rights.

Combatting Human Trafficking
We implement transit point monitoring programs to identify and protect potential victims of human trafficking. We also run awareness campaigns, prevention activities, and reintegration strategies focused on income generation and community strengthening.

Climate Change Response and Recovery
We work to build the economic and mental resilience of communities affected by extreme weather events. Through interventions such as mindfulness training, we promote mental health, well-being, and adaptation to changing realities.

Internally Displaced Persons Response
We provide holistic support to people displaced by conflict, with a focus on improving mental health and well-being. Our approach seeks to deeply understand their suffering and provide context-appropriate care and support.
